To be honest, I didn't care for Avenged Sevenfold's previous album, Nightmare. However, this is their redemption album. They got their chemistry back on track and gave us something I haven't heard much in the world of metal for quit awhile, variety. With some gothic sounding songs, some songs that are a nod to classic metal and even some very melodic songs, Avenged Sevenfold has again proven that they are not a typical metal band. Aside from one song having a swear word in it, it is also rather clean, at least more than previous work they have done. However, that is the only real killjoy of the album is that one song, so I can't give it a perfect rating. My verdict is a 9/10. Avenged Sevenfold has brought back a fan with this album and have reminded me why they are in my top 10 favorite Metal Bands.
2 songs I recommend: Hail to the King, Crimson Day
1 song I didn't care for: Doing Time
